PROFESSIONAL development

Continuing education and research are at the foundation of IIDA’s commitment to our members since we were founded. IIDA MAC provides learning opportunities to help advance the knowledge and careers of design professionals through accredited CEU programs, specialized courses and inspirational outlets and events that help encourage peer to peer relationships and knowledge sharing. Educated practitioners make more informed, safer and more creative decisions, leading to better built environments for people and the planet. IIDA MAC’s educational programming also includes IDCEC approved courses to help our professional members achieve their required CEU credits to easily maintain their interior design registrations and certifications.

ADDITIONAL RESOURCES

NCIDQ

IIDA MAC encourages interior design regulation/certification. The pathway to regulation requires passing the NCIDQ exam to verify proficiency in interior design principles and show a designer’s commitment to the profession. IIDA MAC helps designers prepare for the NCIDQ exam by offering an intensive 2-day preparation seminar led by QPREP. The sessions offer practice tests, study materials, and invaluable support for the Practicum.

Details about the NCIDQ exam are available on CIDQ’s website

CEU
opportunities

IIDA MAC offers CEU events with IDCEC approved courses to help our members easily maintain their professional registrations and membership compliance. IIDA Professional and Associate members are required to complete 10 CEU (10 hours) every two years to maintain IIDA membership compliance. Compliance periods start on January 1st of even numbered years and end December 31st of odd numbered years. If a member joined prior to Jan 1 of an even numbered year, then their compliance period ends Dec 31st of the following odd numbered year. Members joining after Jan 1 of even numbered years do not start their compliance period until Jan 1 of the next even numbered year.

For example:

  • If you became a Professional or Associate Member before Jan. 1, 2022, your compliance period began Jan. 1, 2022 and ends Dec 31, 2023.

  • If you became a Professional or Associate Member after Jan. 1, 2022, your first compliance period will begin Jan. 1, 2024 and end Dec 31, 2025.

IIDA accepts IDCEC approved courses, but if a member attends a non-IDCEC approved course and wishes to apply it towards IIDA compliance, they can contact ceu@iida.org for potential approval. Members are encouraged to self report through the IDCEC registry app or the CEU program host may report attendance directly instead. Some CEU courses provide certificates for self reporting. Members are recommended to keep copies of completed CEU certificates in case required to show proof of completion. Members who do not have or do not know their IDCEC number, should contact ceu@iida.org or search the IDCEC registry on the IDCEC website.
