our COMMITTEES

This committee is responsible for keeping up with interior design legislation and advocating for the profession. This typically is done by creating and dispersing important design related communications through the chapter, but also by hosting events that support the chapter's mission to educate, engage and advocate for the design profession. This committee operates under the leadership of the VP of Advocacy.

This committee is responsible for planning the annual Breaking Boundaries speaker event in Baltimore. This committee operates under the leadership of the VP of BACC.

This committee is responsible for hosting both virtual and in person CEUs for our chapter. All CEUs must be hosted by chapter sponsors and are free for our IIDA MAC members to attend. This committee operates under the leadership of the VP of Professional Development.

This committee is responsible for creating, scheduling, and sharing content on digital platforms for all chapter initiatives. The committee may also be responsible for some photography at smaller functions. All other committees will work with the communications committee to achieve their marketing goals. This committee operates under the leadership of the VP of Communications.

This committee is responsible for planning the Cosmo Couture fashion show event held every even year in the fall. Cosmo Couture is an amateur fashion show hosting contestants from the design industry that create hand-made garments out of raw materials from the built environment. This committee operates under the leadership of the VP of Signature Events.

Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee. This committee is responsible for creating a more diverse and inclusive member population and implementing EDI programming for our members, the Board, and committees. This can be achieved through events, training, marketing campaigns, etc., with the goal of fostering inclusion, respect, and support for all. This committee operates under the leadership of the VP of Advocacy.

This committee is responsible for planning a minimum of four forums per year. Forums can be discussion-based events around a design related topic, or typically are hard hat tours of in-progress or completed projects. This committee operates under the leadership of the VP of Professional Development.

This committee is responsible for recruitment, onboarding, and retention of chapter members. This committee utilizes social media campaigns, events, and other network building programs to develop our member population in efforts to provide deeper value in being a chapter member. This committee operates under the leadership of the VP of Membership.

This committee is responsible for planning the annual Morning Mixer speaker event in DC. This committee operates under the leadership of the VP of WMCC.

This committee supports designers in achieving NCIDQ certification by organizing focused, small-scale events (up to 25 attendees) during the spring and fall. Events may include informational sessions, Q&A panels with recent exam takers, and test content reviews. Committee members work together to create well-structured, relevant, and impactful programs that meet the needs of aspiring certified designers. This committee operates under the leadership of the VP of Professional Development.

This committee is responsible for creating content and hosting sessions for the PLAID scholars. PLAID stands for Propelling Leadership and Interior Design, and it is a highly desired professional development program for designers with 1-5 years of experience. The goal of the committee is to host monthly PLAID sessions on various topics to help the program scholars develop professional skills. This committee operates under the leadership of the VP of Professional Development.

This committee is responsible for planning the Premiere design awards event that occurs each spring. The committee focuses on driving more project submissions, electing judges to critique the project entries, and then planning the design awards ceremony. This committee operates under the leadership of the VP of Design Awards.

This committee is responsible for planning the Showcase trade show event every odd year in the fall. Showcase is a trade show for industry partners to exhibit their products and services to the design community. This committee operates under the leadership of the VP of Signature Events.

This committee is responsible for recruiting new and retaining existing sponsors for each calendar year’s sponsorship campaign. Sponsor dollars are the backbone of all IIDA MAC initiatives and are the reason we can run all our programming and events. This committee also acts as a concierge to the sponsors and plans various networking engagements for them. This committee operates under the leadership of the VP of Sponsorship.

This committee is responsible for establishing and engaging IIDA student chapters from local universities and colleges within our Mid-Atlantic region. The committee will plan various events for interior design students in efforts to get them connected with working professionals and strengthen our future workforce. This committee operates under the leadership of the VP of Student Affairs.

This committee is responsible for initiating and hosting more sustainability focused programming within the chapter such as speaker engagements, etc. They also help each committee infuse more sustainable practices into their programming. This committee operates under the leadership of the VP of Advocacy.

This committee is responsible for recruiting and securing new volunteers for all open committee roles within the Mid-Atlantic Chapter. This primarily involves meeting with potential volunteers from local design firms or other industry related organizations to educate them on the value of volunteering on a committee within our chapter. This committee operates under the leadership of the VP of WMCC and the VP of BACC.
